Due to many difficulties in obtaining text books from Iran, and that constant revision we at Rustam School have begun publishing our own books for teaching Persian to children and young adults’ resident outside Iran, Tajikistan and Afghanistan.
In producing these books was having referred to other valuable source materials particularly current text books from Iran. We have also considered the proposed changes in the Iranian educational system and relevance of materials to children’s life in the west.
Thus for we have published books for teaching Farsi at the school year levels 1, 2 and 7. In addition we have printed a teaching book of exercises for the new GCE Advanced Subsidiary (AS) level Persian. These books have an accompanying CD for Listening exercises.
It is intended that by Noruz 1389 (March 2010) text books for years 3,4,5,8 and 9 will be published too. Meanwhile GCE Advanced (Second year) level Persian teaching book is being prepared for publication along with other teaching materials.
A limited number of all these books are available for sale at Rustam School and reputable Farsi book shops in London.
It is hoped that colleagues teaching the Persian language outside of Iran will find these books useful. At Rustam we would welcome comments, suggestions and constructive criticism so that the books can be improved upon.
